Celta Vigo hosts Sevilla

Celta Vigo hosts Sevilla at the Abanca-Balaidos in a match from the 23th round of La Liga. In our usual La Liga predictions today we will discuss this fixture with you.

Once again Celta are feeling a lot of difficulties in the league and they are fighting for their place in the league. Right now Celta are 19th in the league with 17 points, so they are going to fight for every point they can win until the end of the season. Winning just three games from the start of the campaign is not helping them much, that’s for sure.

Last week Celta had a difficult trip to Valencia where they suffered a 0-1 loss at the Mestalla. It was not an easy game for Valencia as they won it in the 77th minute when Carlos Soler scored the winner. We can’t say it was a bad performance from Celta, but surely it was not enough for them to avoid losing.

Against Sevilla Celta will be without the injured Junca, Kevin Vasquez and Ivan Villar, who are sidelined.

Sevilla will play to keep their place in the Top 4. Los Rojiblancos are 4th in the league with 39 points, two points ahead of the 5th Valencia. Qualifying for the Champions League is Sevilla’s main goal this season and so far they are moving in a good tempo towards it.

Julen Lopetegui’s team will try to react to the dissapointing 1-1 draw with Deportivo Alaves at the Sanchez Pizjuan last week. Sevilla were regarded favourites against Alaves, but Lucas Ocampos’ goal was enough for just a point in the heart of Andalusia.

That’s our La Liga predictions for the match between Celta Vigo and Sevilla at the Abanca-Balaidos on Sunday. Both teams need the points for different reasons, so we expect a good fight here.
